Milva Lehm

Ms. Lehm was born in Brazil. Her mother was a Sicilian immigrant and her father the Bolivian-born son of a German immigrant and a Bolivian Indian. Ms. Lehm lost her Italian Grandfather to a workplace accident when she was still young, as he was unable to obtain proper care due to status as an immigrant. That loss lit a fire that guides Ms. Lehm’s desire to fight for the rights of those less favored minorities.

As a teenager, Ms. Lehm was accepted to two exchange programs in the United States before she obtained a position as an interpreter and then migrated to the United States. In three and a half years, she obtained a B.A. degree in Communication Studies Arizona State University with honors and while working full-time.

At age 32, a car accident required extensive surgery and 18 long months of therapy to recover the ability to function normally. Unable to work during that time, Ms. Lehm volunteered her time at local schools as a liaison and interpreter to families, assisting parents so that they could understand and participate in their children’s education.

Three years after her accident she enrolled at St. Thomas University School of Law and graduated with a J.D. in 2 and a half years. While obtaining her law degree, she was handpicked as a clerk for Judge David M. Gersten of the Florida Third District Court of Appeal. Ms. Lehm also dedicated her summers to volunteering with Legal Aid representing children as an attorney ad litem and at the Fort Lauderdale Courthouse assisting victims of domestic violence.

On Thanksgiving Day of 2006, Ms. Lehm welcomed her son Liam Richard.

After law school graduation, she became the Portuguese Legal Analyst for the Law Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. As the economy began its sharp decline in September of 2008, Ms. Lehm was licensed to practice law by the Florida Supreme Court.

She performed contract work for several high-profile D.C. law firms until she was offered a position as an immigration attorney in Phoenix. Ms. Lehm relocated to the Valley of the Sun where in 2010 she began her solo journey at Lehm Law.

Ms. Lehm is a member in good standing of the Florida State Bar as well as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
